BL-B-5 Click to know more 1. Business Continuity Strategy is a phase within the BCM planning process. It is the conceptual summary of preventive (mitigation) strategies, crisis response strategies and recovery strategies that must be carried out between the occurrence of a disaster and the time when normal operations are restored. Note (1): It is the alternate processing or interim ability to process data and continue providing Critical service while a full recovery of the primary site is underway. Note (2): For the recovery of critical business functions, there are three types of strategy: (a) To defer (b) To disperse (c) To relocate To defer is when an organization defers the business functions until the effect of the Disaster passes. To disperse is for organizations to distribute its business functions among other business units so as to avoid a single point of Impact. To relocate is to move the operations to an Alternate Site during a Disaster. 4. An approach by an Organization that will ensure its recovery and continuity in the face of a Disaster or another major outage. Plans and methodologies are determined by the organizations strategy. There may be more than one methodology or solution for an organizations strategy. Examples of methodologies and solutions include, contracting for Hot site or Cold site, building an internal Hot site or Cold site, identifying an Alternate Work Area, a Consortium or Reciprocal Agreement, contracting for Mobile Recovery or Crate and Ship, and many others.
