Dr Goh Moh Heng is the President of BCM Institute and the Managing Director of GMH Continuity Architects – a specialised BCM Consulting firm. His primary areas of expertise include Business Continuity Management (BCM), Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP), ISO22301 BCM Audit and Crisis Management. Since 2011, Moh Heng has assisted more than 50 organisations, particularly those operating in the Asia-Pacific and Middle-East Region in their successful implementation of their Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and achieving their BS 25999/ SS 540 / ISO 22301 organisation certification.

Prior to establishing BCM Institute and GMH BCM Consulting, Dr. Goh held senior positions with a number of large organizations. During his career with the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), he was responsible for all aspects of its business continuity and crisis management. At Standard Chartered Bank Plc, he saw and manage the global implementation of its BC management and planning for 52 countries. He also managed the BCM practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Since 2001, Dr. Goh had trained and assisted various organisations in their business continuity, crisis management, crisis communication and auditing BCM journeys. These organisations come from varied industries such as banking, insurance, hospitality, F&B, oil and gas, shipping, energy, biomedical, electronic, printing, monetary authorities, research institutes, universities, government agencies and statutory boards.

Currently, Dr. Goh is the senior advisor to the China BCM Forum, a quasi-government agency responsible for BCM throughout China and an expert panel member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Network on Improving SME Disaster Resilience (since 2011) and JICA-ASEAN study to enhance resiliency of industrial areas against natural disasters (since 2012).

In May 2012, Dr. Goh Moh Heng became the first Asian in the 16th year of tradition, to be awarded the "Business Continuity Lifetime Achievement Award" in London, United Kingdom by the Continuity, Insurance and Risk (CIR) Magazine. Prior to establishing BCM Institute and GMH Continuity Architects, Moh Heng held senior positions with a number of large organisations. He was the first non-American to be a member of the Certification Commissionof DRI International, US, and was responsible for bringing DRI International’s BC professional certification to Asia. Moh Heng was the founding President for the Business Continuity Group, a Technology Industry Chapter of the Singapore Computer Society and was its President from 1996 to 1999.

Education

Moh Heng holds a doctorate from the University of South Australia. His thesis explored the development of action learning as a contributing tool for BCM. He holds a Master of Business in Information Technology, a Master in Training and Development, a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education. Moh Heng attended the International Management Program at INSEAD Euro-Asia Centre Euro-Asia Center, Fontainebleau, France.

Moh Heng was appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor with Central Queensland University in 2004 and a Visiting Fellow to the Graduate College of Management, Southern Cross University, Australia since 1999.

BC and DR Standard Development

Moh Heng also headed the development team responsible for developing the Singapore Standard (SS507:2004) for Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) service providers. The SS507 is the base document for the ISO/IEC 24762 Guidelines for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for Disaster Recovery (DR) Services. Moh Heng is also the Technical Reference (TR19:2005) for BCM in Singapore. The TR19:2005 is in final public consultation and will become the Singapore Standard SS:540:2008. What is a TR and SS?. The TR19:2005 is finally published as the SS 540:2008 in December 2008.

Moh Heng is the Senior Advisor to the China Business Continuity Management Professional Committee, a quasi government agency responsible for BCM throughout China.
