1. A UK Emergency Services definition. Any emergency that requires the implementation of special arrangements by one or more of the Emergency Services, National Health Service or a Local Authority.

2. A UK Emergency Services definition. Any emergency that requires the implementation of special arrangements by one or more of the Emergency Services, National Health Service or a Local Authority. Many organisations will use this terminology internally for an incident which causes widespread operational disruption and is likely to involve the Emergency Services.
