Yam Guan Shyh is the Deputy Director/Head, Emergency Management Division, in the Office of Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE), National University of Singapore (NUS). Guan Shyh is responsible for strategizing, implementing and facilitating the crisis and emergency preparedness and management in NUS. The areas of responsibility encompass enabling the operational capability of the Crisis and Emergency Management Teams of the faculties and offices; business continuity management; preparedness and management of pandemic/epidemic; life safety of students and staff, university events and students’ activities; safety and emergency preparedness for official overseas travels; fire safety management; and management of crisis and emergency. He is also the key trainer and facilitator in driving the BCM effort in NUS. He is the pioneer certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in Singapore since 2006, a certified instructor in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation & Automated External Defibrillator (CPR & AED).



Past Employment

  • Guan Shyh was a career senior Army officer with the Singapore Armed Forces for 24 years (1982–2006).
