1. An Alert System established by the World Health Organization or WHO to inform the public about global health events. The scale ranges from phase 1 (low risk for a pandemic) to phase 6 (full-blown pandemic under way). At individual country level, the Public Health Authorities may also have its own alert system which is usually loosely aligned to the WHO's Alert system.
