Michael Ong, Global Operations Manager, BCM Institute

Singapore Michael Ong is the Global Operations Manager for BCM Institute Headquarters. He overseas the operations of BCM Institute globally.

Michael has more than 25 years experience in the F&B industry; he started off by working and assisting in a cafeteria cum catering establishment, which was jointly own by him and his brother. Later he joined Burger King and through rank and file was promoted to Operations Manager. Over the years, Michael had held many portfolios and positions within the senior management structure. Michael had the opportunity to work with world-renowned brands such as Burger King,Starbucks, Orange Julius,The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Hiestand. He also had the opportunity to assist a big local listed company in creating their own house brand concept – a casual dinning restaurant serving fusion food in a fast-food setting.

Later, he joined the franchising arm of a well-established imaging manufacturer as Vice President and headed the Franchise Operations. During his tenure, he was instrumental in the development of the ink refilling franchise; he built the franchise concept which was marketed worldwide. Within a short period of one year, he penetrated the franchise market in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Michael did some freelancing as a Consultant under the umbrella of Brand Champions – a consulting company that provides total solution to local and foreign emerging enterprises towards business excellence.

Michael’s areas of expertise include working with franchisor in creating and developing business model, processes and framework for their system; he specializes in providing advice from site selection to lease negotiation, training, mentoring and troubleshooting as well as providing ongoing support. His other areas of expertise cover managing operations, project management, business development, human resource management and organization development.
