1. Platform as a Service or PaaS is a cloud computing services that provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications over the Internet without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure.

Notes (1): It is delivered as a public cloud service. The consumer controls software deployment and configuration settings, while the service provider provides the networks, servers, storage and services to host the consumer's application. It released the users from having in-house hardware and software to develop or run a new application.

Notes (2): It can also be delivered as a software installed on its own infrastructure or public infrastructure as a service and managed internally within the organization.
