1. Shadowing is technique in which an identical copy of example, a database, is maintained on a onsite and an offsite hardware.

Notes (1): It can also be used to increase a computer's speed by using high-speed RAM memory in place of slower ROM memory.

Notes (2): RAM is about three times as fast as ROM.
