Many types of disasters will impact not only the organization but also the surrounding community.

Human Element

The human element can be unpredictable in a crisis situation, and should not be overlooked when developing a BC plan. Employees and their families could be affected as significantly as, or more significantly than, the organization. Therefore, the Executive Management should consider the impact such a disruption would have on personnel whom the organization would need to rely on during such a disaster.

Family Members

The requirement to provide accommodations and services to family members of employees or ensuring that alternate work facilities are in close proximity to employee residences may make it easier for employees to implement the organization’s BC plan.

Succession Planning

Cross-training of personnel and succession planning may be just as essential as back-up procedures addressing equipment, data, operating systems, and application software.
