2. Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is a category of sensitive information that is associated with an individual person, such as an employee, student, or donor. PII should be accessed only on a strict need-to-know basis and handled and stored with care. PII is information that can be used to uniquely identify, contact, or locate a single person.

3. Personally identifiable information (PII) is any information about an individual that can be used directly, or in connection with other data, to identify, contact or locate that person. Such information can include medical, educational, financial, legal and employment records.

4. Simply put, personally identifiable information (PII) is any data that has the potential to identify a specific person. Any information that could be used to distinguish one person from another qualifies as personally identifiable information, as does any information that could be used to void the anonymity of data.
