1. Disaster Recovery as a Service or DRaaS is the replication and hosting servers (physical or virtual) by a third-party to provide failover during a man-made or natural incident, emergency or disaster.

Notes (1): DRaaS is a recovery service that is utilisation-based.

Notes (2): DRaaS can be used to restore customer data, business applications and system configurations

Notes (3): In deploying DRaaS, servers identified as mission critical can be set to recover instantly while servers with less critical data might be set to recover at a longer Recovery Time Objective (RTO).

Notes (4): DRaaS is sometimes referred to as Storage as a services and Infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
