Michael has been working in the last 15 years as an engineer, a trainer, a consultant, service manager, project manager, senior technical manager, business lead, representative to itSMF International UK, and currently as head of BCM Institute Malaysia.

Michael Kum was the President and Founder of itSMF "Information Technology Service Management Forum Malaysia" in 2006, which is endorsed by MDeC. He started as an engineer in 1998, working for a Japanese manufacturing company. It is here that his fundamentals for BCP, and management began.

He moved on to service management as a trainer and consultant in 2002. He specialized in training and consulting in IT Service Management. The areas similar to BCM include IT Continuity Management, DRP, Change management, Business Alignment and some Operational and Standards areas. He has been in this area for over 8 years.

He is certified Project Manager Professional (PMP,2009), ITIL v3 Expert (in 2009), BCCE (in 2010). He has conducted multiple BC and DR projects when working as a project manager for government, GLC, MNC and data centres in Malaysia and Asia Pacific region.

He brings to the class - an implantation angle of how to deploy BCP in a right and expected Project management framework, as well as ensure operational excellence in the necessary qualitative measurements required to ensure that BCP is successfully planned, understood, and managed in a corporate environment.

His presentation at the World Continuity Congress Malaysia 2010 discusses the use of Project Management to create a successful BCP/ DRP, how ITSM works closely with BCM to design a robust Continuity framework, with a practical way to start BCP in an enterprise and gain quick wins for investors, management and users.
