1. Monitoring is the supervision of the progress of a system, a process or an activity to ensure that it is on-course and on-schedule in meeting the objectives and performance as specified in the BCMS.

2. Determining the status of a system, a process or an activity.
Note : To determine the status there may be a need to check, supervise or critically observe.

3. Continual checking, supervising, critically observing or determining the status in order to identify change from the performance level required or expected.
