The types of crisis can be divided into 8 different categories. The first two threat categories "Natural " and Technology" are usually referred to as "Threats" as this is address during the risk assessment when implementing the business continuity management program. It is discussed in Part 1: RAR - List of Threats v2.

Part 2: List of Crisis Scenario

The other six categories are classified as Crisis Scenario.

Natural and Technology

This two type of crises which is better know as "Threats' is explained in Part 1: List of Threats :. Examples can be found in List of Threats

Confrontation

A confrontation arises when employees fight amongst themselves, against management, or when individuals do not agree with each other and engage in non-productive acts. Some examples of Confrontation crisis include:

  • Riots
  • Boycotts & strikes
  • Internal disputes
  • Ineffective communication & lack of coordination
  • Using ultimatums and force to accept their demands

Malevolence

Occurs when some notorious employees take the help of criminal activities and extreme steps to fulfil their demands

  • Kidnapping of officials

Organizational

Arises when management takes certain decisions knowing the harmful consequences of the same towards the stakeholders and external parties.

  • Examples of the crisis of organisational misdeeds can be further classified into the following three types. They are:
    • Skew management value
    • deception
    • management misconduct.

Workplace Violence

Workplace Violence occurs when employees engage in acts of violence

Rumours

Rumours are the spreading of false rumours about the organization that could damage the reputation of an organization. An example is fake news.

Lack of Funds

Lack of Funds occurs when organizations fail to pay its creditors and other parties. In more extreme cases, it may lead to bankruptcy and liquidation crisis.
